Yeah. We do nearly all of our development on linux using Java3D. Our application needs to run on both Windows & Linux and most end users run windows. We've used a variety of graphics cards (deliberately, to find out if there are problems with any particular combo) as well as software (Mesa) rendering. We've noticed a few variations here and there between vendors, most often related to transparency. Right now we use mostly Nvidia cards, though there are a few ATIs floating around and one person still does software rendering. We've noticed very few (mostly driver bugs) differences between the OpenGL version on linux and the OpenGL version on windows. However, we noticed pretty large differences between the OpenGL version and the DirectX version, again mostly related to transparency or texture blending. We only support our application on the OpenGL version for this reason. As far as development tools, almost all of us use Eclipse & Ant, though there are a few holdouts still using JEdit. As for performance it's been great. We don't have any hard numbers (we software limit it to 25fps and can hit that on all platforms except software rendering), but haven't really noticed any visible difference between linux and windows. -- Dan -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE+QoUkenD/tu6qDxARAi0QAJ46HETSXW+QXK3cqpL3PP5nTZlmpgCfX2yc cKqXQjra5CbicTGtldQ+w1A= =0e1R -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ==========================================================================To unsubscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and include in the body of the message "signoff JAVA3D-INTEREST".
