I've put a canvas3d in a JPanel. I divide the JPanel into different areas and the canvas3d is in one of the areas and all my buttons are in another. So the buttons, etc. are not in the canvas3d.

What should I know up-front about doing this? I read somewhere that this is a big no-no since Canvas3D is heavyweight and Swing is lightweight hence Canvas3D would likely draw on top of Swing. What options do I have?
