Hi,

I’m trying to get started with Java3D and have installed java3d 1_3_1 directx with Java 1_4_1 on Windows XP Sp 1.

I have run the DirectX diag tool and everything for DirectX 7 and 8 appears to be fine. The hardware is a Toshiba Tecra 9100 laptop with S3 SuperSavage chipset.

My problem is that the HelloUniverse and HelloJava3Da tutorial code both return a “fail to create Vertex Buffer – D3DERR_INVALIDCALL” message. Strangely (at least to me), other sample programs such as ConicWorld and GearTest work ok both in the web plug-in and as apps. The HelloUniverse produces no output either using the plug-in or as an APP. I can compile the HelloUniverse program and the tutorial sample with no errors.

Does anyone have any ideas so I can get started on my project?
