"Java3D development has stagnated." ... isn't that right now (at least on Sun side)?

Aside from porting to new operating systems, there doesn't appear to be any new development going on. Rumour has it that most of the team has been sacked (many posted farewell emails to this list). Of course if Java3D is alive and kicking, then all that is needed is a one paragraph press release from Sun to deny the rumours once and for all. There's nothing wrong with Java3D, it's an excellent API and I would like to see it's continued development. However, if something remains stagnated for two long, it dies. Just as a plane that is in a holding pattern will eventually run out of fuel and crash. If Java3D is reincarnated into a product with a greater community focus as appears to be its destiny then this is great and I look forward to seeing what it can become. At least in my eyes however, Java3D in it's current form is dead.
