If I then run the program with the specular color equal to black on java3d 1.2, the whole sphere is black. Yet in 1.3.1 it looks fine. What's going on here? Any response to my questions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I ran into the same problem some time ago so I can assure you it's more than just a driver Problem or stuff like that. But since I found the solution I never looked deeper into the subject. Now that you remind me I would be interested in the cause, too. Did anybody have similar experiences or knows more about it?
