TransformGroup TG = new TransformGroup();
Transform3D TR3D = new Transform3D();

//one of:
TR3D.rotX(0.5);
TR3D.rotY(0.5);
TR3D.rotZ(0.5);


TG.setTransform(TR3D);

TG.addChild (new Cylinder (....));

If you rotate a cylinder standing upright on the X-axis it doesn't really
show, because well,... it's a cylinder. So try rotY or rotZ.
