Check your video card drivers.
If you are using old video card try to use Java3D DirectX D3D version.
In this case do not forget to install DirectX 8.1 or higher.

Using Win2000, jdk1.5.0 and java3d-1_3_1 (OpenGL) I can't get the
graphics to work on any of the demo codes. I launch them from the
sample's directory using -cp . and even the IE browser doesn't show the
graphics running the applet. Its probably the classpath or other set
up. But the bin has the .dlls and the .ext has the .jars, so I don't
know what else to look for. The jpg below shows my results for the
FourByFour demo.
