[java3d] Future for Java 3D applets ?

Can I expect the next version (or the one after) of Netscape and/or
Internet Explorer to run Java3D applets (without any messing about
installing plug-ins or whatever) ?

How many months/years until I can scatter Java3D applets all over my
website and expect a reasonable number of visitors to be able to run
them ? 

Or is this API intended more for full-scale applications than applets ?
