Glenn and other TNT owners,

I finally got Diamond's European support to send me the older driver and it
does work well for me. I suggested that this was a serious bug for the Java3d
communitity and would be in Diamond's best interest to get fixed ASAP, but the
response was that it needs to be fixed in the nVidia reference drivers and
therefore not their job.

Anyone contacted nVidia about this yet?

Thanks,
-Gary

Subject: [java3d] Diamond Viper 550 & OpenGL - solved!

Hi

You will have noticed that I and several others have been having
problems with running Java3D on cards that use the nVidia Riva TNT
chip, in my particular case the Diamond Viper 550 under Windows 95.

I am pleased to say that I have managed to solve the problems by using
an *older* version of Diamond's drivers!

The drivers I am now using are 4.10.01.0220, filename 550220.exe,
which I obtained from Diamond's European web site. If people have
trouble finding them, let me know and I'll pass them on.

There are still a few inconsistencies, e.g. the presence of a
background image seems to stop hardware acceleration; hopefully this
will be addressed in a future release of Java3D.

I have contacted Diamond support (who have been quite helpful) with
this information - hopefully they'll fix the problems for the next
driver release!

Thanks to everyone who replied, especially Don Scales who gave me the
idea to try using older drivers.

Glenn.
