I am also having problems with Diamond - they have said that they are about to
release new drivers based on the nVidia Detonation drivers and hope this will fix
the problem. I know that the nVidia Detonation drivers do not fix the texture problem
with a Diamond Viper 550 running under NT. I am about to check this under Windows 95.
I have looked into contacting nVidia but they don't seem to have a support site - this
is from their web page
################################################################
NVIDIA is the premier 3D graphics chip supplier and does not sell any
products directly to end users. Therefore, our support staff is
dedicated to working with our direct customers, the add-in board
manufacturers and PC OEMs who buy chips from us.
NVIDIA does not provide end-user support technical support.
If you are experiencing any technical issues with any NVIDIA-based
product, please follow the following steps:
1. Contact either the board or PC manufacturer of your product. Below
is a partial list for your convenience.

I suggest you reply to Diamond with this quote !!!
I have asked - and ask again - PLEASE Sun can you help ????
What I think we need is an idea as to which OpenGL calls are causing the problem.
I do not know OpenGL so I am not able to write a test program.
If Sun or an OpenGL expert could supply some test code, we might be able to
give the TNT Graphics Adapter manufacturers a simple test program, then we might
get a fix.
As it stands, the Graphics Adapter manufacturers are losing a new, expanding market.
Also - does anyone have nVidia RIVA TNT drivers pre build 0.36 for AGP Win 95 or NT ?
It would be interesting to know which version introduced the problem.

Don

Subject: [java3d] Diamond Viper 550 & OpenGL - solved!
Hi
You will have noticed that I and several others have been having
problems with running Java3D on cards that use the nVidia Riva TNT
chip, in my particular case the Diamond Viper 550 under Windows 95.
I am pleased to say that I have managed to solve the problems by using
an *older* version of Diamond's drivers!
The drivers I am now using are 4.10.01.0220, filename 550220.exe,
which I obtained from Diamond's European web site. If people have
trouble finding them, let me know and I'll pass them on.
There are still a few inconsistencies, e.g. the presence of a
background image seems to stop hardware acceleration; hopefully this
will be addressed in a future release of Java3D.
I have contacted Diamond support (who have been quite helpful) with
this information - hopefully they'll fix the problems for the next
driver release!
Thanks to everyone who replied, especially Don Scales who gave me the
idea to try using older drivers.
Glenn.
