Thanks to Bastiaan Schnhage who just added his BenchJ3d results to the web
site:

His comments
============
My system is:
PII - 350, Win NT4 - SP4, Diamond Viper 550 - Riva TNT (16Mb), with the
nvidia detonator drivers (latest version). These drivers are fast, but
render some things incorrectly in Java3D. For example, I cannot see the
sphere in the benchmark. Also in my own applications, some elements are
rendered incorrectly.
============
Already we have three *different* machines that are fastest at one of the 6
tests.
I am considering adding the following features to BenchJ3d:
1.
Menu items to run each test, so you don't have to fiddle about adding cubes
etc.
2.
Ability to remove cubes
3.
Ability to add/remove points from the immediate mode rendering
4.
Texture mapped cubes
5.
Transparent cubes
6.
Solid cubes with transparent texture
7.
Transparent cubes with transparent texture
8.
Automatically calculate the average FPS for each test to make it quicker to
update the web site
Any other suggestions?
How about Sound? I've read that the Sound engine puts a real strain on
performance, is this true? How stable is it?

Subject: [java3d] ANNOUNCE: unofficial implementation of j3D API
Hi, all
The first release of an unofficial implementation of j3D API is now
available at
http://spia.freenix.fr/jfd
The main features (Appearance, Geometry, Shape3D, Light,...) are now
implemented and examples of Sun
+package run correctly. This implementation works with jdk 1.1.x.
I tested this API with IRIX6.2 and Linux.
