Hi all, In the interests of trying out something new, I have set up a Java Posse questions and comments service using Google Moderator. This is a simple service that allows people to ask short questions or make suggestions, and even better, allows other people to read those questions and vote them up or down. Google uses a similar thing internally and it works well, so I thought it would be worth a go.
You can find it at http://tinyurl.com/q4javaposse (think questions for Java Posse) I used tiny url because the URL used by the service is pretty fugly. Now for the good and bad. The good: There is a size limit on the questions and comments, so we can read out anything posted there on the show without having to edit it down (or more likely skip it because it is too long). We can get a feel for how many people are interested in a question or agree with a comment which gives us better feedback. The bad: It does require anyone who wants to create a question/suggestion/ correction to have a Google account (e.g. gmail). These are free, and I figured most of the people using the Google group will probably have them already, which is why I started it here to see if it is going to work out. Please do keep sending in audio comments and emails by all means, (especially the audio comments - we are an audio show after all), but if you don't want to record something for us, there is a greater chance we will read out a question, correction or feedback if it is on this service and has a lot of votes. Thanks everyone, I look forward to seeing how this works out.
