Hi guys,

everyone saying how Netbeans's great, but I have completely different
opinion.

I decided to try Netbeans(6.2) after long period with eclipse. But I
switched back.
I use it mainly for java(web) development

1. it does not have native look and feel on my Linux box(and I didn't
like netbeans look and feel either)

2. I had several (principal) problems with building concept using a
ant. In addition netbeans forced me to use newer versions of ant,
something I could do, since we use older version to build projects and
I don't want to have 10 versions of ant on my comp.

3. I didn't like subversion integration. I love subclipse, maybe
reason is that I use it as main subversion tool on Linux(there are
some options here, but I didn't like them so much). Especially I
lacked subversion repository browser tool.

4. UML plugin doesn't work to my contempt. I lost a lot of
data, diagrams etc, even I saved them.

5. Slow switch between project groups (lightning fast working groups
in eclipse)

6. I lacked(maybe it exists but I didn't find it) functionality, where
you can navigate to file in project explorer from source editor. When
you have 20 files open from different packages and from different
projects, it is easily to get lost.

7. I think creation wizards(class, interfaces) are much better in
eclipse

8. I didn't like netbeans force you to have certain project structure.

9. maven2 integration was not satisfactory in nb 6.2(if either)

10. I like much more debugging in eclipse, I just feel more
comfortable over there. Better thread overview etc.

11. I like more eclipse way of handling plugins.Especially not
standard plugins were harder to maintain in netbeans than in eclipse

12. I like junit plugin more in eclipse, just my impression

I gave it a shot, but I was not very satisfied(I used it over 5
months). Maybe I am too used to eclipse and I have problems with new
working patterns.

maybe I should try 6.5 but not here in work environment, I just feel I
am more productive with eclipse.

I have problems with eclipse, oh yes I do a lot of them, e specially
with some plugins, but I still feel more comfortable with eclipse then
with nb.
