There is also a calendar plugin for Confluence, but it's not exactly
fully featured.

Going Apple - there is iCal server as part of Leopard Server is
another lower cost.

For corporate email, Exchange is sadly (IMHO) the gold standard.   I
have to use Lotus Notes at work, everytime I book a meeting, a part of
me dies.
