In my (not so humble) opinion... Relational Databases have the better ad-hoc query (and tool support) story.
That's important to the CxOs who make these decisions. Object Databases give performance, development and maintainability benefits of an order of magnitude or more. But these are issues that anyone can always blame on someone else; so some people may not consider them very important. >;-> (Bitter? Me bitter?
