As long as we're indulging in unsolicited feedback for an unreleased product :-) I thought I might chip in a few ideas for the 2.0 version of the Java app store:
- It would be nice if the appstore was part of Java webstart, so that users could browse through the appstore, and "subscribe" to apps that they're interested in. This would hopefully leverage the relationship that Sun developed with Google and would insure that the appstore is visible to everyone who downloads Java through the Google desktop/toolbar. - It would help developers if there were a NetBeans plugin that lets developers easily publish their apps. Currently the webstart support in NetBeans is pretty good, and it may be as simple as adding an option to publish to the appstore. - It would be useful if there was a "Java Start" menu in the toolbar (similar to the Windows "Start" menu, and the Ubuntu "Applications" menu that lets the users launch webstart apps directly from the toolbar, and search for new webstart apps. Josh, good luck with your demo. I'm sure it'll be a raging success. I already have a couple of apps that I'll be getting ready for the appstore. -- Mark Fortner blog: http://feeds.feedburner.com/jroller/ideafactory --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Java Posse" group.
