The use case for JavaFX is to compete with Flex. We all know that Flex has got a market share advantage and moving people from Flex to JavaFX is hard. I'm not sure it's a pipe dream, though. Personally, I'm happily using JavaFX for mobile development, as it's more productive than JME.
