As I (and others) have said before, we'd *love* to visit Sydney - but being a for-free podcast, we can't afford to travel that kind of distance without someone offering to pay for our travel/lodging. We could, of course, organize a conference which could cover those costs, but that would require us taking even more time away from our jobs and family to organize another conference...
Could someone else organize an open space conference in Sydney (or Melbourne, or NZ) and invite us to come? Sure! Would it be the "Java Posse Roundup"? No! :-) The Java Posse Roundup is(are) the conference(s) that we organize. ;-) Thus - we're in a catch-22. I think we'll need to stick to what we're fairly good at - which is recording dribble about geekdom and releasing podcasts. As we gain more time (if that happens), we can possibly work with someone like Atlassian, or a group of enterprising individuals, to setup a proper JPR in another distant land. The real bottom line is simple - If you want to have a open-space conference in your area, then DO IT!!! They're GREAT FUN!!! If you can somehow get us out there, we'll probably come! - Joe On Sep 28, 5:28 pm, Michael Neale <[email protected]> wrote: > (or Melbourne, or NZ) etc.. > > was some talk of it a while back... > > I am sure at least *some* of the posse members would be willing to > make the trek. > > Note: from SFO to Sydney is 14 hours or less (was just under 12 hours > flight back for me last June) with NO stopovers, direct, non stop.
