It's not a slap. Jetbrains has always been very good to the open
source community even if their own software was closed. This is a very
positive step and they chose a good license :-) I see this as a very
natural step. I've been expecting it to happen for some time. In fact,
I've always been surprised how successful they were with the closed
source IDE. As good as it is, it's hard to get mgmt to be willing to
spend the money when so many free options are available. I'd be
surprised if more options are not included in the open source version
soon.
