I for one was delighted when GSM finally became available some 4-5
years ago in the US - can still see the face of that salesperson when
I walked in and asked to buy a prepaid SIM card in order to avoid
roaming charges.

Also, what is the reasoning behind waiting for 4G? Although we have
21Mbit HSPA+ in my country, most phones only supports 7.2Mbit anyway.
