Gracenote is based on CDDB which started out as a voluntary "CD info
submit" service in in 94/95 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/

Indeed I did, in the past, for a CD that I bought from a local
production (I can't recall, many years ago, but it should have been
monks' chant recorded at a local abbey). I don't remember whether it was
CDDB or a similar service. I can't neither recall which software I used.
