Why should you care about an OS? Security - I have never had a virus on Linux desktop, I had many on Windows Continuity - Remember the Vista debacle? Left many corporation and individuals in limbo for years. Configurability - God forbid you want a configuration other than what Best Buy delivered. Virtual Machine - If you run virtualized environments you are supposed to pay a license for each Windows instance. Cost - No one owns Linux, it is a public service. It is like paying for a low quality private school when you live near a high quality public school.
