I also agree with that point, but I don't think the equation is as simple as that. If it were, what went wrong some 12+ years ago when the Mac platform lost to Windows? Mac was just as focused back then; growing their own ecosystem (own hardware, own software...) unlike Microsoft who embraced diversity (as in bamboo PC's over IBM).
