One thing that I will say is that for all that I was never ignorant of
it's many faults I miss Sun Microsystems very much. I even hoped I
might have a shot at working for them one day. Every time I see the
Sun logo anywhere it makes me feel sad inside.

I didn't know if my enthusiasm for Sun could make the migration to
Oracle. Now it seems pretty clear that this is not going to happen. If
anything I am developing a more proactive dislike of Oracle.

Jonathan Schwarz once said "You cannot build communities with money
you have to build them with intent". I think I only really appreciated
how true that was until the Oracle acquisition. All of Oracles money
cannot buy my loyalty. Sun managed to earn it from me but now that
loyalty seems to have died with Sun.

I suppose that my loyalty not being for sale follows also for
Microsoft or IBM or even Apple for that matter (He says ironically
typing away on his Mac Book Pro).

Maybe it didn't help that Oracle abandoned Project Wonderland and my
current role is a Researcher for the University of Bradford
researching the used of Project Wonderland as an educational platform
for Higher Education.

I suppose that no matter how many people say bad things about Sun and
their technology is not going to stop me wish they were still in
existence or wishing they could be resurrected.

I should probably stop talking about this because it is just making me
feel said. I am off to find some Chocolate.
