All my public sites (with the exception of Hudson) are hosted by
performancehosting.net. On the overall is ok, even though they give
you a very narrowed down linux slice with a shared Tomcat and many
thing that you might need should be explicitly asked for (but they are
mostly free). Once you've reached a good set up, it just works. I'm
experiencing some periodical (every 2/3 days) downtime (5-10 minutes,
typicall, seldom longer) that seems to be due to an OOM (mine or from
some other user sharing the same Tomcat instance) and that causes an
automatic reboot of Tomcat. But what I'm appreciating is that they
take care of the security. The most serious pitfall, so far, is that
they give me only 15 database connections, which is causing some admin
services (and the user's forum) to fail, but it's mostly my laziness
that I didn't complete yet a configuration of the various pools of the
applications.
