I hope this discussion does not devolve to the point that I wish I hadn't asked but I need to look at choosing a web framework to use as part of a University application being developed over the summer. I am under fairly tight deadline constraints as the system must be ready in time for the start of the next academic year in late september. I have used Struts 1.0 back in the past and was reading up on Struts 2.0 thinking that this might be a reasonable transition. I know Java has loads of competing frameworks.
The application is relatively simple and will be for entering student attendance. I am not sure if there are any specialist needs which would make any particular framework stand out. Perhaps the only real issue is that I don't have a whole lot of time to build the application so something which allows for relatively quick development of webpages would be a bonus. I did get a book on JSF in the past but I expect it will be out of date now as JSF 2.0 has come out. I know JSF is criticised for being more complex than it is felt it needs to be. That said others challenge that it is not as complex as it is made out to be. I would appreciate any feedback. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Java Posse" group. To post to this group, send email to [email protected].
