Members are now being siphoned to their nearest Scala user's group :)

But seriously though, Java as a language is pretty stagnant, for those with
experience there's little to learn about the core language.
related groups such as NoSQL are getting better membership because that
space is still dynamic, agile groups such as the extreme Tuesday club are
also doing okay.

Then there's the alternate-jvm-language groups (clojure, scala, jruby, etc.)
They benefit from having a tight-knit community anyway, but also represent a
subject that more people are looking to learn.
