It is actually because they are using and corrupting the system(not all, but those we call as promoters of bad practices ) so well that they are able to manipulate the unfavorable scenarios, using the system, into diversions or even profitable scenarios.
Obviously, when you have knowledge and connections, it helps in such cases. For corporates who may have the govt in their pockets(atleast in my country ),this becomes very very easy (to lie and chew up the profits) This is why non-monopolistic economy is so damn important. The verizon issue clearly explains us that. Still, what do people like us do if we are already registered usrs of such services. ..
