Hey everyone, I'm not sure how many fellow Java Posse listeners will be going to JavaOne this year, especially now that Google has pulled out (what a downer! No Bloch & Gafter puzzlers talk this year?)
But if you are still going, I have two things to suggest: 1. How about a group outing to the St. George distillery? I went last year for the tour & tasting, and it was a blast. The staff is fun, the spirits are all tasty and quite varied. Also, by the end of the tasting, you do end up pretty smashed. :) Tour: Free Tasting: $10 (add $5 if you want to try the absinthe) I'd suggest the Saturday after the conference: September 25th at 1:00pm. http://www.stgeorgespirits.com/tasting-room/ Anyone interested? 2. Come to my talk! Dan Fraser and I will be giving a fun technical session Project Blinkenlights installation in Toronto, Canada. We used Java2D and some ruthlessly efficient German hardware to control each of City Hall's 960 windows and turn the building into a huge Halogen- pixeled display. The talk will be lots of fun, and maybe even a little informative. :) Our session is S314143: Wednesday, September 22, 11:30AM | Parc 55, Powell I / II. Don't miss it! In any case, all the best to the whole Java Posse listener community and to Dick, Tor, Carl, and Joe. You guys rock!
