Fortunately, you are using a @gmail account (which, I preseume, means you are using the gmail web interface?). If so, may I make a recommendation? All threads are managed by a single line item. You can simply click "More actions"->Filter messages like these and add a filter for that subject line. It less than the time it takes to write a party-pooper email, you can filter your messages.
I do this all the time for threads that just go out of control.
