I don't really see it either. Harmony as it stands works well, and the
pace of new libraries and updates to those bits of the core java
libraries that are even available on android is rather sluggish. I'm
sure google can easily muster the resources to keep that part of
harmony up to date with the OpenJDK proper.

This might seem like a non-issue, as the OpenJDK is open source, but
it isn't: Google can't lift code from the OpenJDK and stick it into
android / harmony, because OpenJDK is GPL, and Android / harmony's
license is not compatible with that.
