I personally think Google contribute (to the Java ecosystem) more with
expertise than hard lines of code in the libraries. When they bought
Android and needed an application stack, they looked around and found
a clean-room library implementation which would not require license
fees. Whether they committed upstream to the Harmony libraries is
hardly a measure of community involvement in general. For that, you
need broader data points:
