Maybe that's the reason for some people. However, for many I think the reason is simply that they want the deployment characteristics of web apps and also want a rich UI. So we do the best we can with the tools we have today and hope that HTML 5, CSS 3, ECMAScript 5, JavaScript libraries (like jQuery), GWT, and so on will make this doable and will continue to improve. -- R.
