True dat.  You presumably need the community to be skilled in a more
low-level language too.  E.g., Python attracts a lot of C programmers,
because/so there are lots of native libraries wrapped to be used in
Python.

Most Java programmers simply don't have the C++ skills, as far as I
have seen, to hack at the JVM itself, for example.  I'm sure as good
software engineers we could do it if we needed to, but we'll generally
avoid it if possible.
