I have no doubt that there are elegant solutions in Scala for this,
just as I usually use my own HeadTailIterator in Java, but as I said,
the topic was still Java (Scala not mentioned and debate not in
ScalaWags sections). :)

Well, it may no longer be experimental/academic I will give you that,
but it's not mainstream either I will still maintain. Again, show me
alternative solutions in Java before declaring "for considered
harmless".
