My main concern here is that the early access will keep it out the hands of other JVM languages, especially those under open source where the likelihood of a corporate Oracle partnership is slim. This could be missing a great opportunity to improve the API in ways that make it more suitable for use outside of Java (for example, I'd love to know their stance on favoring immutability and constructor injection) By the time it becomes more public, I imagine the thing will be far too locked down for any meaningful changes. Anything that isn't Java is already treated as a second class citizen by way of developer headcount. But that's no reason to make the situation any worse by using such heavy handed industrial tactics. I absolutely don't see what Oracle has to gain from restricting access like this, unless it's to prevent official input from open source developers. > -- > Fabrizio Giudici - Java Architect, Project Manager > Tidalwave s.a.s. - "We make Java work.
