This may be a slight deviation from the topic but you mentioned about
iOS not allowing applications to be installed except via the App
store. It makes me curious as to what provisions are provided for
application development? I would assume that developers have some way
of testing their apps on real hardware without having to go through
the app store. I might guess to do so an individual has to be a
registered developer (I believe at a cost of about $100). I have not
as yet attempted to create an app for iOS. I was able to experiment in
years past with JavaME without having to pay out anything first.
I would assume at least some people on here are doing iOS development
and would be curious as to how they have found the experience.
