Sorry for another one of these, really! I'm sure everyone is sick of reading these, but this is an attempt to influence Dick away from his netbook (which I'm sure will probably backfire:))
Previously, I was an avid netbook user, and after two bouts with attempting to use tablets instead, it seems the third time's the charm. My load out: Toshiba Thrive (stock) Logitech bluetooth keyboard w/ stand Optional: HDMI cable USB mouse (All stuff I got from Best Buy) Apps: Terminal app (Better Terminal) Browser Messaging client (Skype for me) I honestly haven't touched my main laptop in quite a while, as anything that I'd want to do outside of my day job (even my after hours consulting) can be done with this setup, *and* I get a tablet for couch browsing too. There were three things that created the tipping point for me in this most recent attempt: 1. **Android** The Thrive has a full sized HDMI port, and USB for my mouse (if I want to work at a desk) 2. **Android** In 3.2, alt+tab started working -- this really made it possible for me to do web dev the way I want to 3. I've started doing most of my after hours work in a terminal rather than windowed IDE The only thing I can't do is run Eclipse -- but I don't really want to do that anyways as I do it all day long at work. The few times when I'm truly disconnected for some short period of time, there's always something productive that I'm able to do without a terminal connection (Clojure REPL, javascript, books, ...) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Java Posse" group.
