I still see java 5 a lot…. I assume it's been "EOL"ed.
EOL means that it won't be patched any longer, unless you have a paid
support contract with Oracle. I don't have doubts that there are lots of
older JREs around; they are a security problem. Probably not so important,
as most of security issues aren't related to Java being used on the
server, and probably many of those installations are used in a secured
intranet. In any case, frankly speaking, not being able to upgrade a JRE
for such a long time is the sign of a problem.
