It seems to me that the bug database used for Java (http://
bugs.sun.com) has been virtually abandoned by Oracle, without Oracle
specifying a new way of reporting bugs in Java.

The most recent bug report that I made back in february (bug in
StAXSource) is available on the bug database:
http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=7148925

However, a bug that I reported back in october 2011 (bug in JAXB) was
confirmed in an automatic return mail, but still isn't available
online: http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=7105912

According to the bug database FAQ
http://developers.sun.com/resources/bugsFAQ.html#s4q3
it could be because...

"Some bugs are not included in the Bug Database for security
reasons"

But I really cannot see that being the reason for not making it
public.

Have anyone else had similar experiences?

I guess it looks good in Oracle's quality statistics: "Since taking
Sun, the number of reported bugs on Java have diminished" :-(
