My experience is quite the opposite than Rakesh: I tried it a few years ago and in the end I thought it was ok for some kind of stuff (not for my mainstream). In the end I found that that kind of stuff is the empty set: I found always preferable to do with Java. The only thing for which I still use Groovy a bit is inside Maven, when I have to do something special that does not deserve to write a specific plugin.
