It depends. I don't know about Devoxx UK, but Devoxx Belgium is a conference where definitely you have people talking to each other. Honestly, I think this is major vantage point of a conference, given that a presentation alone can be also enjoyed from the web (e.g. Parleys, for what concerns Devoxx) with a lower cost (especially including travel costs and missed billed days).
