Hello ooostephan,
On Unix/Linux/Mac OS X you could go to an empty folder and issue this
command to make a local copy of this tutorial:
wget -r http://download-llnw.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/
In theory this takes about 12 minutes to complete with a 3 million bit
per second line and uses about 82 megabytes of storage. I suspect some
of these web pages might conceivably reference resources in some
arbitrary place, so they might not work entirely "stand alone."
Somebody can no doubt tell you the equivalent Windows incantation (same
as above, using cygwin on Windows, heh heh).
Oracle seems to have inherited Sun's split-brain personality with
respect to meta-doc, as the tutorial is obviously freely available at a
pragmatic level, but the main page has a "license" link that goes to a
"terms of service" link at the bottom of the page and to follow that
requires login (with your Oracle account id/password). So you'd have to
"sign up" to determine what the terms of service are.
