Hi  Annette
I too am using a Dell laptop.  I did some playing around in the mouse 
properties shutting some things off, and I haven't had the problem since. 
I'm not convinced that it is fixed until it stays stable for a longer period 
of time.  You may want to go into the control panel and arrow down until you 
get to the mouse, and then tab through the settings. I pressed the shift F1 
key to find out what each check box did, and made my choice from there. 
Maybe this will help.  Also, make sure your touch pad is turned off so that 
when you press the pad, it doesn't click the mouse. David.
