CDex by default checks the disk for errors by using technology called Jitter Correction. I think CDex flashes these messages, hence JAWS repeating, in bits, the word. Don't worry, it doesn't mean the CD contains errors; it just means that. You can turn off jitter correction, which will speed up the ripping time anyway, through the CDex configuration dialogue, invoked with F4. I think it's in the CD tab or something, can't remember the exact wording of the page. Hope that helps.
