Chris,,

Advanced Find in Outlook Express is one of my favorite commands
and lets me find all sorts of posts I saved or find things from
listserves quickly.

From the message list view in OE 6, press Control-Shif-F. JAWS
announces Find Message Dialogue and says look in and the name of the
folder you are in. Some of the more recent versions of JAWS say some
extraneous things here like adding reading only edit that you can get
it not to say. If you want to search in an OE folder other than the
one you are in, press alt b and you will get the folder list. To
search in the folder you are in, keep tabbing to find some of the
things you can search for. Tabbing 3 times is the place where you can
type in messages from a particular person, part of an e-mail address,
etc. Tab again and you get to where you can look for messages to
people lists, etc. Another tab brings you to subject if you want to
search for any part of what's in the subject field.
One more tab is for message if you remember anything in the message
body. The next 2 tabs get you to where you can search for messages
within a date range, say if you remember the message you're looking
for was written between april 1 and June 30 of this year. There's a
check box to check if you want to search for attachments. You can
search for any combinations of these items and if you search for
things in local folders, you can really increase the capability.

There are short cut keys too . If you want to search within the
folder you started the search with,, alt-r is the one to land you in
the from section. Alt-t for To;; Alt-u for subject; Alt-a for message
and alt-h for attachment.

Hit enter when you've typed in all the items you want to search for
and you get a message list view with the results.

Hope that helps and you find Advanced Find as useful as I do.

I don't understand this advanced find feature. I typed "a" into the
search
field, for the fun of it, but there was no "find next button" or
similar.
What have I done wrong? Thanks!
