Chris,

I think that virtual buffer might sometimes be more apptly called the
'virtual bluffer'! It also has something to do with JAWS not coping very
well with fairly large .pdf documents under normal conditions, etc. To be
fair, this could rather be an MSAA thing, since this sort of issue has been
going through several iterations over the years. Now, here's something that
has raised its ugly head for me a few times recently, more than it did
before, and more than it should. (It first happened with the introduction
of the virtual buffer etc., in JFW3.31 back in summer 1999.) (Be warned:
don't do the following unless you're prepared to take the consequences.)
While typing a message (or reading a message with a large paragraph),
accidentally or on purpose hit ctrl+down-arrow. There's a good chance that,
if you do this, JAWS will be silent and nothing else will move on your
machine until you ... reboot.

I've looked at it even closer, and it appears that Javascript has nothing to
do with this bug. I'm now thinking that the larger the web page, the more
likely the bug will occur. I think what happens is that the buffer can only
cope with so much before giving up. However, after a refresh, the buffer
acts normally. Hope this will be fixed soon, as, I'm sure like many others,
I'm getting frustrated. Just my two pence worth.
