I believe there is a way to remove these components, but you have to do it 
through the disk clean-up utility.

You have the normal first tab in that dialog box, and if you control+tab, 
you'll land on another tab, where one of the choices is to remove optional 
Windows components.  If you don't do anything, you'll land on the button 
that says Windows clean-up.  Press the spacebar, and another dialog box will 
pop up, which is the Windows Wizard.  You'll land on a list of checkboxes, 
and you just check the appropriate box for what you want to remove and tab 
to next.

I don't know what other options are further than that point, as I have never 
proceeded past that point, but suffice it to say, that is the process.

You'll also find a Installed programs button, just after the Windows 
Clean-up button, and system Restore Clean-up button, immediately after that.
