Your issue is one of the reasons why JAWS7.0 with IE7 is not recommended. On the rare occasion I used that combination (because of a JAWS8 and JAWS7.1 also crash on a particular Web site), it responded very slowly when I opened a combo box.

Steve's idea of alt plus down arrow doesn't work. So I think I will have to take Flore's suggestion and add the jaws 7.01 patch. While I was using I E 6, the patch caused trouble with jaws 7 so I went back to just 7. However, now I think I'll have to try it again.
