That's my JAWS and my Windows versions as well. The way you enable the typing sounder is to do an Insert V in the main Messenger window. Then your first choice in the list should be typing sounder, and it may already say enabled rather than disabled. If not, then hit the space bar to change it to enabled. And then press enter. Your new settings will be saved.
Problem is, even though it's enabled, for some of us it's not working as it did with the earlier version, MSN Messenger 7.5. It's a mystery, but perhaps it will work for you. HTH.
